“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”—this was the parting message of the DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu during the 2nd Manila Bay Coordinating Committee meeting held last 18 December 2017 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza, Pasay City. All the heads and senior officials of the mandamus and partner agencies except for LWUA and DBM attended the said meeting wherein each has presented their accomplishments for the year 2017, as well as their pressing issues and concerns in the implementation process. Indeed, the main objective of the meeting was to review the
level of performance of each agencies vis-à-vis the attainment of the targets set in the updated OPMBCS in order to have a smooth start in 2018 considering mainly that 2017 is about to end.
Justice Presbiterio Velasco, Jr. as the the head of the Manila Bay Advisory Committee (MBAC), discussed the agreements made during the previously conducted MBAC meeting held last 23 November 2017 at the Supreme Court. He has commended the DENR for leading the updating of the OPMBCS and the new KPIs of the agencies, and he even commended Secretary Cimatu for being a champion of this endeavor. As one of the highlights of the meeting, he was given a Special Award by the Secretary Cimatu in recognition of his unwavering support and for all his toils in the supervision of the whole cause in rehabilitating the bay. The meeting ended with the Secretary calling all the mandamus agencies to continuously reinforce their commitments for the attainment of the targets of the OPMBCS.
